The Lost Fleet and the Birth of StarForged

The fleet that would one day form StarForged was never meant to chart unknown regions of space. It had been assembled for a single, decisive mission—one that was supposed to turn the tide of war.

The War and the Final Mission

For decades, humanity had been locked in a brutal conflict against an advanced and enigmatic alien civilization. The enemy, wielding technology far beyond anything humanity had encountered before, had pushed deep into human-controlled space, seizing entire star systems with terrifying efficiency. Every counteroffensive humanity attempted was met with devastating precision. Entire fleets were lost in ambushes, colonies were reduced to ruins, and the chain of command grew increasingly desperate.

A breakthrough finally came when intelligence operatives uncovered a vulnerability—one of the alien-controlled systems, Epsilon Eridani, held a strategic weakness that could be exploited. A heavily armed task force, composed of warships, support vessels, and elite strike teams, was hastily assembled. Their mission: strike deep into enemy territory, reclaim Epsilon Eridani, and establish a forward outpost for humanity’s counteroffensive.

However, the mission was rushed. The leadership, desperate for a victory, ignored risks and uncertainties. As the fleet mobilized, communications from high command grew sporadic, then ceased entirely. Orders became vague. The fleet’s admiral, now effectively cut off from the chain of command, was forced to make the call—proceed with the operation or turn back and face the consequences of disobedience. With no alternative, they pressed forward.

Disaster in Transit

The fleet gathered at the edge of the Sol system, preparing for the final jump to Epsilon Eridani. Every ship’s systems were calibrated, coordinates locked, engines primed for the jump into the heart of enemy territory. But the moment the jump sequence initiated, something went terribly wrong.

A violent gravitational surge rippled through space, tearing apart standard navigational pathways. Ships were ripped from their course, sensors blared with chaotic readings, and the entire fleet vanished.. not to Epsilon Eridani, but somewhere else entirely.

When the ships stabilized and emergency systems came online, the crews realized the truth:

  • They were no longer in human space.
  • No known star patterns matched their charts.
  • Communications with Earth were silent.

They were utterly alone in an unknown galaxy.

The Struggle for Survival

The initial shock soon gave way to cold reality. Supplies were limited, fuel reserves were dwindling, and without a home base, the fleet’s days were numbered. The crew scrambled to map their surroundings, desperately searching for any system that could sustain them.

After weeks of searching, they finally found a beacon of hope; a system with a habitable world, abundant resources, and enough stability to allow them to regroup. They called it the Helios System.

The fleet descended upon Helios, scavenging its planets and moons for minerals, water, and anything that could keep them alive. The engineers worked around the clock to adapt their vessels for long-term survival. Without the ability to return home, the fleet had to evolve into something greater.

The Forging of a New Home

As time passed, the decision was made: rather than let their vessels fall into disrepair, the ships would merge into a single, unified structure. Hull by hull, deck by deck, the fleet transformed into a massive, self-sustaining station. This new home was no longer just a collection of stranded warships, it was a symbol of resilience and human ingenuity.

They named it StarForged.

A Fractured Legacy

Not everyone embraced this new vision. Some saw Helios as a prison, believing that the fleet should push onward, expand, and dominate rather than simply survive. A faction broke away, taking ships and supplies with them. They would later become known as the Corsair Brotherhood, turning to piracy and conquest to carve out their own empire.

Meanwhile, the remaining humans aboard StarForged worked tirelessly to fortify their position, establish trade with alien civilizations, and ensure that, one day, humanity would rise again.

Though their home was gone, their legacy was not lost.

They were no longer soldiers of a dying empire.

They were StarForged; reborn in the fires of catastrophe, destined to leave their mark upon the Circinus Galaxy.
